What materials are used in Bohemian Rainbow pads and liners?
The fabrics that sit closest to the skin are all natural fibres,I use bamboo velour, cotton velour, flannel and I also make raw silk topped maternity pads. The absorbent part of the pad is made from bamboo fleece which is really absorbent and has natural anti bacterial qualities. This booster is sewn to an internal layer of flannel. I use a layer of PUL (polyurethane laminate) to 'waterproof' the pad.The magic with PUL is that it is still a very breathable fabric.I back my pads in bright cotton prints or co-ordinating flannel.I also make wool backed pads which contain no PUL.
Do you only do customs or are there in stock items as well?
While I do like to keep some pads and liners in stock on my site my in stocks are kept at my 2 online stores:
www.wahmnaps.com and also at
www.clothpadshop.com
I get a lot of emails regarding custom orders and it's easier for me to keep an eye how many orders I'm taking on through my site. It's also easier for my customers with fabric selections.
All my seconds are also listed here on my site.
Re-usable versus Disposable
Here are many of the pros to using re usable menstrual products:
Cheaper in the long term
Far more comfortable
Natural materials
Many woman report shorter periods
More absorbent
Far better for the environment than disposable products which end up in landfill.
And don't forget they are far more funky!!!
OK you've nearly convinced me how do I wash them?
Re usable menstrual pads are no way near as difficult to use and wash as people would think.Place the used pad in a shallow lidded bucket(or ideally a jar) of cold water. When you are ready to wash pour the water into the toilet and wash your pads on a cold or warm cycle and line dry. That's it.Easy yes?The sun will naturally sanitise your pads so there is no need for any soaking or bleaching agents.
What different sizes of pads do you sell?
I sell 4 different styles of pads.
Liners: for everyday wear, pregnancy and extra protection when you might need it.
Regular pads: for a light to regular flow.
Medium/Heavy pads: for a heavier flow, these can also be used overnight.
Maternity/overnight: For maternity use or if you have an extremely heavy flow overnight (or during the day)
What are the postage costs?
I charge a flat rate of $2.95 within Australia.
International customers please email me before you purchase and I will give you a postage quote.I can also send registered or express post.Just let me know and I will adjust the postage price.
How long do custom orders take?
I am a one woman army and all my pads and liners are sewn by me.The time frame for customs are 1-2 weeks.I'm usually faster but in case of family commitments this is the time frame I give.
How do the pads and liners stay in place?
Bohemian Rainbow pads and liners do up with a plastic resin snap on the wings to keep them in place.
